With COVID-19 keeping people in their homes, the importance of a stable high bandwidth internet connection is greater than ever before. Across the world, schools are planning for fully-remote or hybrid education, while companies like Google are implementing full work-from-home plans for at least the next year. This brings along challenges when trying to balance all of the different people and needs that one Wi-Fi network can handle.

To combat this, Vodafone Germany has rolled out a revolutionary high-speed broadband internet for its subscribers, thrusting them and Germany to the forefront of high-speed internet technology. Previously, Germany was lagging behind in broadband internet advancements compared to other European countries. Research shows that with these fast advancements, Germany will become the leader of Gigabit technology with 36.9 million Gigabit homes, ahead of the UK with 25.7 million, France with 24.5 million, and Spain with 17.8 million. The jump comes as a result of the new DOCSIS 3.1 technology rollout with over half of Vodafone’s new customers looking for 400Mbps downstream or more for their homes.

The DOCSIS 3.1 Gateway that Vodafone is using is an AP that provides networking features such as Ethernet switch, firewall, and Wi-Fi connectivity to homes - making their networks faster and safer than ever before. No longer do people need to worry about taking a zoom call while their children are streaming or taking classes online. The AP applies advanced Quality of Service (QoS) to manage data and WiFi tracking to keep things running smoothly.

The Wi-Fi connectivity of the modem is provided by Celeno’s Wi-Fi chipsets. Celeno's CL2400, Dual Band Concurrent 802.11ac Wave 2 Wi-Fi radios, provide superior Wi-Fi functionality ensuring consistent, reliable delivery of high-quality, carrier-grade video service over Wi-Fi. The chipsets work together with the other components of the modem to provide download speeds of as fast as 1Gbps and broadband capabilities with lower latency. The industry continues to see an average increase of 20-30% in bandwidth use every year, as people turn their attention into more connected technology to work from home, online learning, video chatting, live gaming, and TV.

Celeno offers a rich portfolio of state of the art Wi-Fi chipsets supporting Wi-Fi 5, 6, and 6E standards. We’re very proud to be supporting Vodafone in their huge progress, and we believe that in the near future our cooperation will extend even further in supporting them in the deployment of Wi-Fi 6 and 6E- will push the limits of home internet access to another level of quality, bandwidth, and WiFi opportunities.
