Celeno and SerComm Introduce Wireless HD IPTV Networking Solution

Powered by Celeno’s CL1300 chip, the SerComm’s IP902CL Access Point provides better range and reliability

IPTV World Forum 2009, Booth #368, London – March 23rd, 2009 - Celeno Communications, leading provider of semiconductors for multimedia Wi-Fi home networking applications, and SerComm Corporation (TSE: 5388), the leading manufacturer of broadband and wireless networking equipment, today announced the availability of the IP902CL, a Wireless HD IPTV networking solution. Powered by Celeno’s high performance CL1300 Wi-Fi silicon, the IP902CL Access Point enables OEM’s and Service Providers to deliver carrier-grade multi-client HD IPTV home networking with unmatched performance and an attractive cost structure.

This solution enables reliable and robust connectivity of concurrent HD and SD IPTV streams from Ethernet-equipped devices, such as broadband gateways, DVR’s, and over-the-top internet video boxes (such as AppleTV, Roku, Vudu, etc.), to multiple IP set top boxes. A single IP902CL Access Point supports up to four client adaptors to support up to four concurrent HD streams. Utilizing Celeno's OptimizAIR™ technology, which employs a unique “base station” architecture with powerful client-agnostic beam forming MIMO, IP902CL achieves HD performance even with low end, single stream, single antenna client devices. By using cost-effective client devices, the solution's average price point per TV decreases as the number of TVs grows.

Furthermore, this solution allows OEM’s and Service Providers to support integrated Wi-Fi enabled set top boxes instead of client adaptors, while using the same SerComm CL1300-based video access point. Thus, the IP902CL enables service providers to take advantage of new technologies, while achieving consistent HD performance across the home and maximizing their investment in the solution. This standards-based, future-proof architecture, with full backward and forward compatibility, is truly unique and puts an end to the frustrating dependence of video performance on the specifics of the receiving Wi-Fi client hardware.
