Terrestrial Digital TV Service (DVB-T)
Market Outlook
Terrestrial Digital TV Broadcast or DVB-T is expected to replace the traditional aerial analog video TV broadcast over the next few years. The evolutionary process of shutting down the analog broadcast system and replacing it with DVB-T is inevitable and has been dictated by regulators in many countries. Since consumers want to watch digital broadcasts on multiple screens around the house, the ability to distribute this digital content throughout the home will become a critical requirement. . Unfortunately, aerial reception in the house in many cases is unreliable thus an alternative mechanism is required. Similar to Satellite broadcasts, in most cases DVB-T service will be packaged with Video On Demand (VoD) service and will be deployed through a broadband connection in collaboration with a Telco service provider.
Common Applications
- DVB-T Linear TV distribution – Streaming incoming video from a DTT-Wi-Fi converter to multiple Wi-Fi enabled DTT Set Top Boxes around the house.
- VoD distribution – Streaming incoming video from Residential Gateway to multiple Set Top Boxes around the house.
